poet laureate.

Wanted:

One Poet Laureate

Job Description:

You will be expected to do some of the following things:
- Poeticize for/to your peers
- Organize Poetry Readings at and around Laurier
- Take charge of Poetry WLU, the Laurier poetry anthology
- Revive the English Club
- Get some funding from Campus Clubs and/or the English Department
- Send lots of emails about all those things
- Write poems commemorating significant Laurier people and events
- Maybe start a Laurier poet blog
- Defend title from challengers as demanded

The successful applicant should have the following characteristics:
- Poetics
- Friends who'll write poems and read them at poetry readings
- Optimal cliche-detection skills
- Spelling & grammar naggery
- Ability to email a million people and make risky posters
- Some kind of motivation to spread truth and beauty through the galaxy OR a motivation to expose the crap of human existence

If you think you've got the stuff of poets, send us:
- Your resume
- Two to three pages of your work
- A cover letter outlining what would make you a good Laureate

The new Laureate will be Laureanated next Wednesday night (March 8th) at the Fr!nge Festival of Laurels drama-poetry celebration/awardshow. Applicants may be contacted to read at this epic event.That is all.
