Call for Submissions

The Wilfrid Laurier University Fringe Festival is currently accepting proposals for performance art pieces to be staged during our annual, week-long festival. The festival will take place January 18 - 20, 2007, and we encourage anyone from Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Waterloo or the surrounding community to participate.

Positions are available for performers, directors, and stage managers. Currently, we are seeking proposals for performance art pieces that may include:

Plays (either original works or new productions of existing works)

Films

Modern dance pieces

Musical acts

Etc.

Your proposal should include the following:

- a 1 or 2 paragraph description of your piece

- the estimated length of your piece (maximum length: 25 minutes)

- a rough estimate of what props you may need and what this will cost

- an estimated number of cast members

- whether or not you are interested in directing your piece, or if you would like us to find another person to direct

- for plays: a minimum of 2 pages of sample script – although, if your script is complete, we encourage you to submit it, as the degree to which your script is complete will be taken into account when we are accepting proposals.

Proposals are due by Monday, October 2 2006, after which time we will no longer be accepting proposals. Proposals will be judged in terms of completion of scripts and length of pieces, as well as on a first come first served basis. Please, therefore, get your proposal to us as soon as possible! If your proposal is accepted, we will require a completed draft of your script (for plays) no later than Monday, October 23, 2006.

Proposals can be emailed to laurierfringe@hotmail.com

If you are not interested in writing your own piece, but are interested in participating as an actor, director or stage manager, please email us for more information. Auditions for actors will be held in mid October.

In addition, we are seeking one or two highly organized and commited individuals who are interested in assisting with the overall organization and logistics of the festival. Ideally, these individuals would be interested in eventually taking over as organizers/co-ordinators of the festival. For more information, contact laurierfringe@hotmail.com.

For general information about the Laurier Fringe Festival, please email laurierfringe@hotmail.com or visit laurierfringe.blogspot.com. An information meeting will take place in early September – to be notified of the date of this meeting, please email us and we will add you to our mailing list.
